About

Julien Xuereb is a French classical guitarist and composer dedicated to making each performance a unique experience. Described by the Baltimore Sun as creating “subtly nuanced compositions,” he blends classical technique with influences from rock, jazz, and Middle Eastern music.

He studied at the Conservatoire de Grenoble before earning a Master of Music and a Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. At Peabody, he became the first Musician-in-Residence at Springwell Senior Living, later expanding the program with the Peabody Dean’s Incentive Grant.

His debut album Introspection was released in 2015, followed by Musical Vibes in 2023. After overcoming dystonia, he has resumed classical performance and continues composing and releasing new work.

Music

I primarily perform classical guitar repertoire spanning the Baroque, Romantic, and modern eras. My programs often include works by Robert de Visée, Napoléon Coste, Francisco Tárrega, and Heitor Villa-Lobos, alongside contemporary compositions and my own original works.

My training at the Conservatoire de Grenoble and the Peabody Institute grounds my playing in the European classical tradition, with strong attention to tone production, phrasing, and stylistic clarity.

Beyond traditional repertoire, I am influenced by rock, jazz, and Middle Eastern music, which inform both my interpretations and compositions. I also perform original works that expand the expressive range of the guitar while remaining rooted in its classical technique and sound world.
