Full program notes
This solo recital traces the evolution of the classical guitar from the elegance of the French Baroque to Romantic lyricism and Spanish character pieces, concluding with a contemporary work of my own.
Robert de Visée’s Suite in B minor reflects the refined dance traditions of the French court, combining structure and expressive nuance. The works of Napoléon Coste and Francisco Tárrega highlight the Romantic expansion of the guitar’s expressive and technical range, moving from intimacy and lyricism to virtuosic color.
The program concludes with Entre deux eaux, a three-movement original work exploring shifting textures, fluid motion, and the poetic imagery of water. Together, these works present the guitar as both a historical and living instrument.
