About

I live in Portland, OR as a mechanical engineer and 11th generation descendant of the Karaikudi Veena tradition. My brother Sushruta and I receive guidance from our parents, Sreevidhya Chandramouli and Chandramouli Narayanan, who are musicians, composers and teachers for nearly 40 years. My mother is noted for performances/workshops across the world (Berlin radio, Amsterdam, India) and stateside Kennedy Center and Library of Congress to name a few. In the recent years we have performed as a family quartet or as duets. My brother and I also teach alongside our parents as a way to keep the tradition alive and evolving in the community.

Apart from the music itself I have a deep passion for acoustical sciences and in my spare time develop microphone transducers with ultra-fast transient/impulse responses. I love to experiment with unobtrusive recording techniques to capture and present Veena in a transparent, immersive form.

Music

As stated earlier, I come from the long Karaikudi Veena tradition lineage. For more details on our history, please visit https://www.karaikudivoyage.us/karaikudi-tradition.html.
