The humbling and majestic Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue, in the beating heart of the metropolis we all love so much, is a bastion of stillness and grace in the hectic hustle of our place. On many occasions, they've opened their doors to Groupmuse to share their sacred music-making with our community, and this Friday, they're welcoming us back once again for a Night Out.
The 500 year old (!!!) Choir of Christ Church Cathedral from Oxford, England is gracing the hall with its angelic sound for a program that spans the life of the choir itself -- from John Sheppard and William Byrd of the 16th century, all the way to the 20th century's William Walton (who was once a member of the choir himself), making stops at Henry Purcell and George Friedrich Handel along the way.
The divine and delicate voices will be complimented by Saint Thomas's Baroque gallery organ.
Typically said evening of the Sublime runs $40 a ticket, but because Saint Thomas treasures the community we're building, we've got a stack for only $20! But these always sell out, so you'll want to move!
What's the music?
