What better way to get to know a composer than to follow his music across a lifetime? Schubert 200: Chapter I — The Beginning, presented by Capital Keys Performing Arts Foundation, launches a three-year celebration of Franz Schubert’s extraordinary chamber music, leading up to the 200th anniversary of his death in 2028. This opening concert brings together five distinguished musicians for an evening that traces Schubert’s evolution through three works, each revealing a different facet of his musical imagination.
The program begins with the youthful Violin Sonatina No. 2 in A minor, moves into the intimate, lyrical world of the Arpeggione Sonata, and culminates in one of chamber music’s great favorites: the “Trout” Piano Quintet, brimming with irresistible melodies and sparkling interplay between the instruments. Featuring pianist Larissa Dedova, violinist James Stern, violist Katherine Murdock, cellist Eric Kutz, and bassist Anthony Manzo, this is an inviting opportunity to experience Schubert’s genius up close—and the first chapter of a remarkable musical journey. Through Groupmuse Nights Out, enjoy this celebration of chamber music at a special discounted price. 🎻
