Host

Fresh off major festival performances in Brazil, Paris, and London, acclaimed pianist Cristian Budu will grace the Eastside with an intimate performance in Kirkland on Friday, August 7. Gramophone magazine listed Budu's 2016 album of the Chopin Preludes among its top 10 Chopin recordings of all time. Budu will play them for us along with Schumann's Kreisleriana, one of the most celebrated song cycles in the classical piano repertoire.
We look forward to welcoming guests between 7:00pm and 7:15pm so that the performance may begin promptly at 7:30pm. Guests are welcome to bring anything they would like to drink or snack on at the intermission.

What's the music?

Schumann - Kreisleriana op. 16

Chopin - 24 Preludes, op. 28

Where does this music come from?

The program embraces 2 of the most emblematic masterworks by 2 geniuses from the 19th century, the european romantic era - Robert Schumann and Frederik Chopin.

Both pieces represent an outstanding challenge for pianists and musicians in order to deliver a profound journey into the unaswered questions of life and existence, through sounds and musical subjects that push the limits of possibilities on piano playing and the human soul.
