We are delighted to welcome you to an outdoor concert on a lawn in the Blue Ridge neighborhood in Seattle. Please bring a mat, blanket or folding chair to sit on the grass. You are welcome to bring your own drinks and food. We will supply canned sparkling water, plates and utensils.
What's the music?
French and Italian gems! Ethereal impressionist music by Ravel and Faure, plus favorite, listenable Italian songs and opera tunes, centered around an elegant serenade by flute/guitar master composer Ferdinando Carulli.
Where does this music come from?
This program is from the eighteenth through early twentieth centuries. First, classical French impressionism played on alto flute sets the stage with an atmospheric aural color palette, rather than expressing sentiment. Then, for contrast, the expressive Italian spirit is represented in an ornate eighteenth-century serenade of flute and guitar master composer Ferdinando Carulli, followed by lyrical, lively and poignant Italian opera and popular song melodies.
