Rosh Hashanah Classical Guitar Gathering

This concert encompasses music I have written during a residency at the Wurlitzer Foundation in Taos, New Mexico, music from my repertoire with composers such as Bach and Fernando Sor, and my own take on standards from the jazz tradition infused with classical and Spanish elements.

My music is rooted in the classical and jazz traditions. Some people have said they can hear some Brahms. There is a strong influence of Villalobos, Scriabin and J.S. Bach. Keith Jarrett is a big influence as well as Bill Evans, coming from the jazz tradition. There are also elements of Flamenco from early repeated listening to masters such as Camarón. There is also some influence of Japanese music from having listened to Gagaku for a few years.

The reason of the title to this program is that I’m seeking to develop a unique way of expression with the classical guitar, in the couple of years I’ve developed an improvisational approach which partakes from elements of the classical guitar tradition, the great American Songbook, Flamenco and jazz.
