Groupmuse founder and eco-spiritual bard Heavy Meadow is on the road with the world-class vibraphone player and social media sensation Chappy Milkshake to tell the world of the songs and story of Joe Hill -- the greatest bard in the history of American Labor, who was executed by the state of Utah in 1915 for a crime he didn't commit.
The bosses and the politicians thought that they could bury Joe Hill and his message of solidarity, but every time someone speaks his name, tells his story, sings his song, those bosses and politicians are proven wrong and Heavy, Chappy, and filmmaker Monty Montgomery aim to make sure that they stay wrong, as they film a documentary about this quest in service of radical remembrance.
The first stop is the Bay Area and what good fortune for us that that's the stomping grounds of Heavy's co-founder and vocal improv facilitator extraordinaire Seabass! Heavy is a free-styling song channel, Chappy is an absolutely astounding jazz cat and together, they improvise entire sets of freshly minted songs. Seabass is known around the Bay Area for facilitating large groups of improvising vocalists, and to open for the show on the 15th, we're all joining forces for a half-hour-long vocal improv bash, where we swap between group singing and Heavy+Chappy's freestyles, until we all blend in a mind-blowing celebration of spontaneous sound. Once we're all exhausted and inspired, everyone else will collapse in a pile and Heavy and Chappy will tell the tale of Joe Hill.
It'll be so much fun and we can't wait to see you there!
