Ms Tung's music displays evocative vocal lines with accompaniments like miniature tone poems that combine to illustrate the text as well as comment on the content in a very personal way. She feels the poetry very deeply and that is an outstanding feature of her songs.
The program will consist of a song cycle describing the aging of a man, and then a group of individual songs showing the range of her poetic interests as well as musical diversity.
The poets range from e.e. cummings, Yeats, Akhmatova, to Auden, Pound, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Jane Kenyon and Pat Schneider.
