Founded in 2021, the Chicago/Cincinnati–based OLEA Ensemble champions brand-new music for the unusual combination of clarinet, violin, and piano. They present an evening of music entirely by living composers, including two pieces written especially for the ensemble.
OLEA's mission is to foster community connections through the innovative curation of new music. Hailed as “not only inspiring, but refreshing” (I Care if You Listen), OLEA builds connections through audience interaction as well as thoughtful selection of repertoire and venue. By emphasizing performance in community gathering spaces, OLEA presents the opportunity for both performer-audience interaction as well as intercommunity dialogue.
OLEA is: Kate Kilgus (clarinet), Alayne Honaker (violin), and Marissa Kerbel (piano).
Please note: Hosts will provide a cheese platter and some beer/wine, but BYO is recommended.

Where does this music come from?
OLEA Ensemble's members are all classically trained musicians who met during our conservatory training. While we all have a deep love and appreciation for traditional classical chamber music, our unique instrumentation lends itself to exploring newer repertoire by living composers. We are excited to present works we have commissioned alongside previously composed works by composers who are quickly becoming household names!
