Kev’s place is once again proud to announce a refreshing night of live music. Come prepared to be transported. Mixed State explores a range of sounds using electronics, jazz and classical standards, and original compositions. Fusing sounds together from influences ranging from Bobbi Humphrey to Emily Remler, to create a unique experience. The band also performs what are the new standards of jazz (some of which come from charts made public to the masses in Terri Lynne Carrington's "New Standards Vol. 1") by prominent women like Brandee Younger, Cindy Blackman, Alice Coltrane, and Jamie Baum.

What's the music?

Mixed State Flute, Guitar, Bass, Drums

Mixed State's album "espresso depresso" features a combination of acoustic and electric instrumentation to create a genre-less story of life with only one consistent theme — inconsistency.

Where does this music come from?

Mixed State performs arrangements of classical compositions such as Vaughan Williams' Suite de Ballet, as well as original jazz music. The band performs compositions by women jazz composers.
