What's the music?
The Berkelium String Quartet will perform Beethoven's String Quartet #8, Mozart's "Dissonance" Quartet, and the premiere of Flanagan's 5th String Quartet "Arc Variations," inspired by Arc Gallery and the artists in the 2025 Four Squared Exhibit.
Where does this music come from?
Dan Flanagan, the founder of the Berkelium String Quartet, is also the creator of The Bow and the Brush, an organization that commissions new music inspired by visual art. Dan has commissioned 27 pieces and composed 13 pieces inspired by works of art, which he has performed across the U.S. and Europe. His String Quartet #5 "Arc Variations," is a theme about Arc Gallery with 16 variations inspired by the 16 artists in the current Four Squared exhibit. The program will also include iconic works by Mozart and Beethoven, the cornerstone composers of the string quartet repertoire.
