A Musical Celebration of America's 250th Birthday"

This unique presentation brings together Copland's stirring musical portrait of American pioneer life with Graham's groundbreaking modern dance, creating an intimate yet powerful celebration of our nation's artistic heritage. Watch as one pianist becomes the entire orchestra, breathing life into every musical voice of this Pulitzer Prize-winning composition.

Appalachian Spring captures the essence of American optimism and the pioneering spirit, making it the perfect centerpiece for commemorating 250 years of American independence.

Rosemary Winslow, poet & SOLOX special guest, will read her poetry featuring the late artist & professor John Winslow ... The Irascible Eighteen, large painting rear of music studio based on Lena Keen's famous 1950 life magazine photograph* featuring now famous then advanced artist denied admission metropolitan museum of art new york artist show ... most of whom resided near our 2 room apartment in Greenwich village.

SOLOX in collaboration with Groupmuse is delighted to host an intimate piano recital by pianist Liana Pailodze Harron combining a solo transcription of Aaron Copland's celebrated Appalachian Spring. Experience these masterpieces of American music and dance as never before, with the complete ballet performed on solo piano.

PotLuck Dinner Buffet 2-3PM & during intermission& following performance. Host will provide two hot hors d'oeuvres & punch for potluck reception during intermission & beginning, when doors open 2pm. Guests are encouraged to bring food/wine to share/potluck; if considering a sweet, think about fruit instead of processed sugar. Music begins at 3pm, please be on time, 2 sets with 1 short intermission, rarely one longer set. Guests most welcome and encouraged to bring dish/drink to share/potluck, please consider bringing wine if you use it. Stemware/Ice Buckets/Filtered Water Provided.
