ARTEK (The Art of the Early Keyboard) is one of the premier early music ensembles in The City. We partnered with them on innumerable wonderful evenings in beautiful and sacred spaces around Manhattan. And their next concert is a celebration of the reigning Godhead of early music, and perhaps all music, and perhaps all sounds ever - I’m of course talking about Johann Sebastian Bach. So when they invited our community along for another splendid Night Out, we were all over it! And we hope you will be too!
The all-J.S.B. program features that pure and edgeless tone of the baroque horn — first with his beloved and joyous Hunt Cantata. Then we’ve got the First Brandenburg Concerto, which never needs an introduction or a justification - it simply is and we’re grateful for it. The evening will also feature a rare treat - an aria written for a German Duke entitled "Alles mit Gott und nichts ohn’ ihn,” BWV 1127. Lost for centuries, it was rediscovered in 2005.
We’ll be gathering at the beautiful Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on 65th St., and as usual, we’ve got a nice stack of steeply discounted tickets — get yours for $20! But move because it’s Bach!
