About
From the historic halls of Carnegie Hall to the iconic studios of Hollywood, violinist Cristian Fatu weaves magic with his bow, painting musical landscapes that have captivated audiences across continents. He’s claimed over 25 competition prizes, including First Prize at the 2008 Kingsville International in the US and Grand Prize at the 2000 "Remember Enescu" in Romania, plus quarterfinalist honors at the 2012 Queen Elisabeth and 2006 Premio Paganini contests.
He’s performed globally from New York to Kyoto, earning praise from Germany’s Murnauer Tagblatt for his “wonderful virtuosity and perfect technique.” Born into a musical Romanian family, he began violin at four, debuting at sixteen with Bucharest’s National Radio Symphony. He’s since soloed with orchestras like the Iaşi Philharmonic and Kansas City Chamber Orchestra among others. His recordings, including From Bucharest to Kansas City and Treasures from Home, trace his journey, blending technical brilliance with personal charm.
Music
A classical violinist's repertoire is diverse and spans multiple musical periods, from the Baroque era to contemporary compositions. Growing up in Eastern Europe I've been also influenced by the musical flavors of the old world and enjoy performing other styles such as folk music, klezmer and tango en lieu of the traditional classical repertoire.
