  Its mission is to create unrivalled music experiences and forge human con

 platform\, which it accomplishes through live performances\, online\, and 
 an extensive education and community programme.\n\nWith its primary home i
 n London’s Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall\, it is at the beati
 ng heart of London’s cultural life. The LPO also has residencies at venu
 es across the UK\, and tours internationally\, including the USA\, with a 
 passionate commitment to fostering transatlantic cultural exchange.\n\nThe
  American Friends of the London Philharmonic Orchestra (AFLPO) was founded
  in September 1968 as the London Philharmonic Society (U.S.A.) Inc. In 200
 6\, the name was changed to the American Friends of the London Philharmoni
 c Orchestra. The AFLPO’s mission is to support the Orchestra’s interna
 tional touring program\, educational projects\, and a wide array of musica
 l activities in both London and the United States. Funds raised by the AFL
 PO help the Orchestra initiate and strengthen existing programs and mainta
 in its high standard of musical excellence. The AFLPO is a 501(c)3 organiz
 ation\, dedicated to supporting the LPO’s education activities\, such as
  the Orchestra’s work with talented young American musicians and the coa
 ching of students from the Fiorello H. La Guardia High School for Music & 
 Art and the Performing Arts. Support of the American Friends of the LPO al
 so enables the Orchestra to commission new works from American composers\,
  collaborate with world-class American artists\, share live and digital LP
 O performances with US audiences\, nurture exceptional future American tal
 ent\, and provide a prestigious platform in the UK on which to showcase an

 ork of John Adams and Duke Ellington\, at their London home on the Southba

 r\, and Alice Ivy-Pemberton\, the LPO’s Co-Leader\, and will enable LPO 
 chamber performances in New York and Los Angeles later this Autumn\, along

 ========================\n\n### PIETER SCHOEMAN – Leader (First Violin)\
 n\nPieter Schoeman was appointed Leader of the London Philharmonic Orchest
 ra in 2008\, having previously been Co-Leader since 2002. He is also a Pro
 fessor of Violin at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance.\n\nPiete
 r has performed worldwide as a soloist and recitalist in such famous halls
  as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam\, Moscow’s Rachmaninov Hall\, Capella
  Hall in St Petersburg\, Staatsbibliothek in Berlin\, Hollywood Bowl in Lo
 s Angeles and London’s Royal Festival Hall. As a chamber musician he reg
 ularly appears at London’s prestigious Wigmore Hall. His chamber music p
 artners have included Anne-Sophie Mutter\, Veronika Eberle\, Patricia Kopa
 tchinskaja\, Boris Garlitsky\, Jean-Guihen Queyras\, Yannick Nézet-Ségui
 n\, Martin Helmchen and Julia Fischer.\n\nPieter has performed numerous ti
 mes as a soloist with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Highlights have i
 ncluded an appearance as both conductor and soloist in Vivaldi’s Four Se
 asons at the Royal Festival Hall\, the Brahms Double Concerto with Kristin
 a Blaumane\, Florence Price’s Violin Concerto No. 2\, and the Britten Do
 uble Concerto with Alexander Zemtsov\, which was recorded and released on 
 the LPO Label to great critical acclaim.\n\nPieter has appeared as Guest L
 eader with the BBC\, Barcelona\, Bordeaux\, Lyon and Baltimore symphony or
 chestras\; the Rotterdam and BBC Philharmonic orchestras\; and the Leipzig
  Gewandhaus Orchestra.\n\n================================\n\n### ALICE IV
 Y-PEMBERTON – LPO Co-Leader\n\nAlice Ivy-Pemberton joined the London Phi
 lharmonic Orchestra as Co-Leader in February 2023.\n\nPraised by The New Y
 ork Times for her ‘sweet-toned playing’\, Alice has performed as a sol
 oist\, chamber and orchestral musician to international acclaim. While gro
 wing up in New York City and studying with Nurit Pacht\, Alice made a nati
 onally televised Carnegie Hall debut aged ten\, and was a finalist at the 
 Menuhin International Competition at the age of 12.\n\nAlice earned her Ba
 chelors and Masters degrees at The Juilliard School under the tutelage of 
 Itzhak Perlman and Catherine Cho as a fully-funded recipient of the Kovner
  Fellowship. During her studies she won Juilliard’s Violin Concerto Comp
 etition\, performed extensively with the New York Philharmonic and The Phi
 ladelphia Orchestra\, and led orchestras under the baton of Barbara Hannig
 an\, Xian Zhang and Matthias Pintscher. Upon graduating in 2022 she was aw
 arded the Polisi Prize and a Benzaquen Career Advancement Grant in recogni
 tion of ‘tremendous talent\, promise\, creativity\, and potential to mak
 e a significant impact in the performing arts’.\n\nAn avid chamber music
 ian\, Alice has collaborated with Itzhak Perlman\, Anthony Marwood\, Gil S
 haham and members of the Belcea\, Doric\, Juilliard and Brentano string qu
 artets\, and performed with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. F
 estival appearances include Music@Menlo\, Moritzburg and Yellow Barn. Also
  a passionate advocate for new music and its social relevance\, Alice crea
 ted Drowning Monuments\, a noted multimedia project on climate change that
  brought together five world premieres for solo violin.\n\n===============
 =================\n\n### KRISTINA BLAUMANE – LPO Principal Cello\n\nKris
 tina Blaumane was born in Riga and graduated from the Latvian Academy of M
 usic and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. She has been invited to pl
 ay as a soloist\, recitalist and chamber musician around the world.\n\nShe
  has performed as soloist with the London Philharmonic Orchestra\, Amsterd
 am Sinfonietta\, Chicago Civic Orchestra\, Kremerata Baltica\, Britten Sin
 fonia\, Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra\, Sofia Soloists\, Netherlands Wind E
 nsemble and Dalarna Sinfonietta\, as well as all the main orchestras in La
 tvia.\n\nAs a chamber musician she has worked in partnership with such ren
 owned artists as Isaac Stern\, Gidon Kremer\, Yo-Yo Ma\, Yuri Bashmet\, Le
 if Ove Andsnes\, Janine Jansen\, Julian Rachlin\, Dmitry Sitkovetsky\, Bru
 no Giuranna\, Misha Maisky\, Nikolaj Znaider\, Tatyana Grindenko and Oleg 
 Maisenberg\, among others\, and has performed at festivals such as Lockenh
 aus\, Gstaad\, Salzburg\, Verbier\, Basel\, Jerusalem\, Utrecht\, Spitalfi
 elds\, Cheltenham\, Aldeburgh\, Homecoming and Crescendo.\n\nKristina is a
  keen promoter of new music. She has given a number of world premieres and
  several works are dedicated to her\, among them cello concertos by Dobrin
 ka Tabakova\, Kristaps Pētersons\, Pēteris Plakidis and Artem Vassiliev.
  Kristina appears as a soloist on the ECM debut disc of composer Dobrinka 
 Tabakova\, which reached number 2 in the UK classical charts and received 
 a Grammy nomination.\n\nKristina has also recorded for the Onyx\, Quartz a
 nd BMG labels. Kristina is a winner of many awards including the Latvian P
 hilharmonic Young Musician of the Year\, the Latvian television competitio
 n ‘Alternativa’\, Carmel International Competition\, Musicians Benevol
 ent Fund and Lord Mayor’s Prize. She is a two-time laureate of the Great
  Music Award\, the highest prize given by the Latvian State in the field o
 f music (2005 & 2007).\n\n===========================\n\n### BENJAMIN ROSK
 AMS – LPO Guest Principal Viola\n\nBenjamin Roskams is an accomplished v
 iolinist and violist. He began playing the violin at the age of nine in Ca
 rdiff where he studied with Harry Cawood before winning a scholarship to s
 tudy with Lydia Mordkovitch and Emanuel Hurwitz at the Royal Academy of Mu
 sic\, where he was awarded B-Mus.Hons (1st class). Benjamin continued his 
 studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with David Takeno on sc
 holarship and then with Professor Ilya Grubert at the Amsterdam Conservato
 ire\, also seeking inspiration from Ivry Gitlis in Paris.\n\nEqually at ho
 me on the viola\, he is also a member of the award winning Artea Quartet\,
  having performed at venues such as the Conway Hall\, Purcell Room and Wig
 more Hall as well as appearances on BBC Radio3 “In Tune” and a chamber
  music prom concert broadcast from the V&A on the BBC. The Artea Quartet r
 ecently recorded a disc of late Schubert as well as participating in a hig
 hly acclaimed CD box set featuring the complete quartets of Mendelssohn fo
 r Champs Hill Records. Other collaborations have led to recording the Korn
 gold sextet for South African label TwoPianists Records.\n\nAs an experien
 ced orchestral musician he has led the Dutch National Ballet as well as ac
 ting as guest deputy concertmaster of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra an
 d Holland Symfonia. In the UK he works regularly with the LSO\, LPO (most 
 recently as guest principal viola) and Philharmonia Orchestra as well as b
 eing a member of the BBC Symphony Orchestra 1st violin section. Benjamin i
 s an assistant professor at the Royal College of Music in London.\n\nHe is
  a keen collector of violin bows and is indebted to Albert Cooper’s fami
 ly for the generous loan of the c.1720 Giuseppe Guarneri filius Andreae vi
 olin on which he plays.
